Never mind, you were right to sleep in — nothing happened. Basically, it was par for the PR course. To wit:
•The fact that it says “Red Bull” on the kits is a guarantee that the club will not rest until they achieve excellence. Honestly, do you know anyone who believes that?
•Youri Djorkaaef was there for some reason. And he’s still French. Just so you know.
•Bruce Arena’s goals for the season? Fewer losses, more wins. Wow, really? That’s why he makes the big bucks.
•Two new sponsors: Adidas and Hospital for Special Care. Guess which ones will be providing the kits.
•Actual news: Ansu Toure is still around, still on trial. Give the size of the senior roster right now it seems unlikely he’ll make it, but it’s nice that he’s still got a fighting chance.
•Even though the weekly RBNY show is reportedly not going to be part of MSG’s package for the season, Univision Radio will be carrying not only every game but also a weekly football show called Solo Futbol. In other words, RBNY is saying this to English speakers: SCREW YOU!
•Shep Messing was there, wearing a Cosmos blazer. Man do I love Shep.
