Weekend Poll: Red Bull Tickets

By: Dave Martinez | January 23rd, 2009

This is an interesting year. We are in the midst of an economic downturn, yet the Red Bulls are freshly coming off of their most successful postseason run in franchise history. They have achieved a place in the CONCACAF Club Tourney, are in better bargaining positions with potential players and have the beginnings of an Arena already up (even if it is delayed).

My question this week involves the investment readers of this blog would make for the season, if any. It has always been a question that I was curious about, and with all the recent news, it seems like a perfect weekend to ask! Will the economy get in the way of you seeing more games? Or Is it something else?

Give it a shot, and if you want to clarify your stance, expand on your thoughts in the comment section.

  • Original plan was to get the 8-game plan, but esp now with the news of the stadium it's been scaled back to the usual 4-game plan, plus opening night, and MAYBE one late-season if we're in the mood.

I'll see you guys at Nevada Smiths tomorrow! USA!

I've renewed during early renewal period every year for 6 straight. Considering some of the estimates on unemployment in the NY/NJ/CT area, next year is going to be the one to watch when it comes to spending on items like this.

I already know I will be missing more games and spending less on tailgates. More Pabst, less Microbrews and fun things that I've done in the past.

5-10 games for me, probably closer to 10 than 5. I'll be away at school starting in August so that is a bit of an obstacle, though I can come home some weekends. $$$ is also a problem.
  • One day I'll be a season ticket holder, maybe when the new Stadiums ready. I'll still take in the odd match now and again though.
  • Yea MLS has been saying that all over the place - yet another reason why I had to ask the question this weekend. Good call tho.

hahaha thats funny cause they were talking about how the mls is gonna benefit from this crisis cause the tickets are still very cheap.. and its cheap entertainment for the family.. 20 bucks a game.. cheapest sport around for non stop action compared to every other sport.. I think they will do very well this year..
  • Thats what prevented me for YEARS from coming to Metro games - lack of transportation from Queens. I get that completely. And I am sure so many others will have the same issue.

for sports fans this economy couldn't come at a better time.

Teams have been spending and passing the cost on to fans to a level that can only be matched by our boys on wall st and in the bush administration. Trickle down greed.

yankee tickets went up tremendously with their new stadium for example.

But now that the economy has caught up with this practice teams will have to start being more responsible or run the risk of having empty stadiums.

Id expect that RB Arena will be reasonably priced as are the tickets at Giants stadium.

For me the tickets are not the issue but the travel and lack of a car are
