Angel Not Bothered With LA; Will Make His Debut v Colorado
By: Martha | May 8th, 2007
Straight from the (Red) Bull’s mouth, AKA RBNY’s email press release minion:
Dear Red Bulls Member,
We just wanted to pass along a quick note regarding our latest player addition, Juan Pablo Angel:
Former Premiership striker Juan Pablo Ángel is expected to make his MLS debut with the Red Bulls on Sunday, May 13 vs. the Colorado Rapids at Giants Stadium. Ángel received approval for his work visa on Monday and has joined the team on a full-time basis.
We hope to see you out at the stadium on Sunday.
Sincerely,
Red Bulls Fan Services
So there you have it — Sunday it is. (I didn’t even know I was a Red Bulls member! I feel so proud.)
Edit: Angel is on the bench for tonight’s Cup match, so it’s possible (as the very wise skiracer suggested in the comments) he’ll come on as a sub but still make his official “MLS debut” next weekend. Double-talking, officious, misleading RBNY bastards.

To be technical, Ángel could conceivably make his Red Bulls debut tonight in the Open Cup and then make his “MLS debut” (as the e-mail words it) on Sunday against Colorado. I could be reading too much into it, but if he were to come on for RBNY tonight, he would not be making his league (read MLS) debut.

Oh damn Skiracer — I didn’t even think of that. I will be so pissed if they’re that sketchy, but wouldn’t honestly be surprised.
