RBNY v FC Dallas: We Love the Rain!

By: Martha | April 16th, 2007

Look at Dema in the armband! So, that Wynne and Reyna-free lineup Bruce put on the field was our amphibious team, then! How else to explain the 3-0 crushing of Dallas in the middle of a monsoon?

Without the injured (sigh) Reyna, RBNY were led through the rain by The Great and Powerful Cletus, who reportedly (I have to take the press’ word for it, what with being totally denied by MLSnet’s fine print and missing the game) turned in a performance worthy of 2000, scoring a goal — his 19th in 30 games against Dallas — and assisting on Jozy’s opener. Now, knowing Mathis and what he’s done (or not done) over the past several years, logic suggests this is a blip rather than a hint of the new reality but, honestly? Screw logic. I don’t care if it was Dallas’ third game in a week, or if the conditions were so bad as to make it hard for anyone to actually play — 3-0 is 3-0, and we’ve never, ever lost when Mathis scores a goal. I don’t know about you, but I’m ok with taking those stats into next weekend.

Hopefully Chris will give us a more detailed report on what he saw from his station on the sideline, but until then I’ll leave you with this fantastic quote from Ronald Waterreus, who left the game at the half due to hypothermia: “It was not that I was going to die …” Well, that’s something.

Oh, and also: All hail Captain Dema!

  • Curse that MLS fine print! Does your TV system even offer Telefutura? Mine doesn't.

I can understand blackouts for ESPN2 and even FSC. But why would Telefutura broadcasts prevent MLSnet from providing the game? Makes NO sense to me!!
